Some keyboard characters are not allowed in Rent Your Spare Room's Add Room description and title for security reasons.

Your Add Room description may only contain alphanumeric, spaces, under scores, commas, full stops, colons, apostrophises, exclamation marks and dashes etc.

Characters such as brackets, hashes, quotation marks, at sign, forward and back slashes, pound and dollar signs etc are not allowed.

We appreciate that you may want to discuss money in the description field, but you must omit the sign else the upload will produce an error message. If you do get the error message, simply check your Title and Description for disallowed characters and delete them.

Beware that copying and pasting into the description field from browsers and documents may embed hidden characters that are not obvious to see.

Thanks for all the feedback from users with regard to this issue. We have released as many characters as we feel is safe to do so and still allow you to produce a quality description.

A Room Management page has been added to the menu list. Previously this area was located within the My Profile page. This update is due to constructive feedback from several users who were unable to locate this section easily. The logical step was to create a dedicated page.

The original Management Area Links are also still included in the My Profile section for those who have become accustomed to them being there.

New feature coming soon to Rent Your Spare Room. We are developing a distance calculator for the search feature calculated from the geographic centre of the town in which a room is located. Search results are in chorological order based on most recent room added.

If a broad search is used based on rooms available in a County area. The distance will still be calculated from the individual geographic centre of each town located within that County search results.

Rent Your Spare Room allows landlords to add a room to rent or let. Tenants can search for rooms available or register an interest in up to 4 towns. If a new room is added in one of those selected towns an automatic notification will be received.

This Blog is primarily to allow us to let you know of latest updates and intentions for the site. Users can comment and feedback with suggestions that may help us improve the site for the user.
